Feed The Animals the new album by GirlTalk
Just heard this story on Here and Now about Greg Gillis, who has taken the art of sampling and remixes - if you will - to a brand new level with his new album Feed the Animals.
So what is new you ask? Well - the songs are basically samples of popular songs mashed together - yes, ALL of them. Ok, you might call it stealing - but I feel that this is an artistic endeavor. It takes a really really good sense for anyone to put random music bits together and create something that is so refreshing and somewhat meaningful.
The thing that bugs people is that the album is a ‘pay what you want for it, Radiohead type model’ , which, to be precise, means its free! I must admit I paid $1 for it - I usually go by the MB ≈ 1¢/MB of music. I like a few songs - not the whole album - but it definitely shows what you can really create with SO much awesome music around.
